Upgrade Your Halogen & Incandescent Lamps & Get A Government Rebate To Cover Some Of The Costs
Lighting Solutions is a registered electrical contractor with ContractorCheck, at the Electrical Safety Authority and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. Our insured and licensed staff can perform upgrades to your existing lighting system.
It is vital to identify which type of halogen MR16 bulb you currently have in place. MR16 halogens come in different types:
GU10 MR16
Screw in MR16
All these types of light bulbs produce the same amount of light depending on Wattage. But the most important differentiator and (and the reason Two Pin MR16 light bulbs were so widely used in the past) is that inside the fixture there was a transformer that converted 120V to 12V. And this was fantastic in the “halogen days” because it made the bulb last longer. Nowadays this technology is no longer relevant and actually inconvenient.
This is why we suggest telling your electrician to remove the transformer from your can light (pot light) and installing a new GU10 socket (directly connected to the line voltage) with new the GU10 MR16 light bulb.
This will be save you money in the long run. You will save on the cost of replacing transformers (and electrical service work). In addition, it is a lot harder for dimmers to work with LED light bulbs when there is a transformer in the circuit.
We can also handle the application process with our extensive knowledge of the requirements from the multiple incentive programs.
Incentive Programs have been developed by governmental agencies to encourage upgrades which reduce energy consumption. These measures help businesses to enjoy better overall performance from the lighting system with less energy use from our taxed power grid.
As a property manager, your eligibility for these incentives depends on your location, type of property and its size. In order to qualify for the incentives most agencies in Ontario require the work to be done by licensed electricians. All incentive applications must be submitted and approved before the projects begin. Along with compiling the information required by the Ontario Power Authority, Lighting Solutions can administer the application process on your behalf to ensure you receive your applicable incentive without project delays. Your involvement will be minimal so you'll be able to focus your attention to your business.
